Now to do it correctly, you must follow these steps exactly.
Step 1: Save any city onto a disk ( usually A drive )
Step 2: Go into dos, and open up the A: prompt ( type A:\ < enter
> )
step 3: Type: debug
.CTY ( Where blank is the name of your file. ) then hit enter.
Step 4: Type: -e D24 7f ff and hit enter
Step 5: Type: W and hit enter ( this writes the debug into the game )
Step 6: Type: Q and hit enter ( this quits the debug program )
Step 7: Open your file up in Simcity ( you should have over 47,000,000
dollars )
Step 8: save the game onto the C drive...
And if you do try this trick, it defeats the whole purpose of the
game...have fun...

MONEY CHEATS
There are several ways to get more money in SimCity Classic
without taxing the general population. There is the
well-known trick of holding down the shift key and typing
the word 'fund' to get $10,000. If this is repeated too many
times, an earthquake results. Don't want a earth quake? Try
pausing the game and FUNDing to your hearts content. Then
before unpausing the game, save it. When you unpause the
game you will get the earthquake. When you reload your saved
saved game, you won't.
There is another way to get even more money. It involves
saving the game and then using another program, such as
Debug (a DOS utility), to edit the saved game file. I wrote
a program in the C programming laguage called cm.com which
edits the city file to get you much more money. It works
very well for SimCity Classic for DOS; it gives you over
$2 billion! For SimCity Classic for Windows it dosen't work
as well, but still gives you about $3 million. It is much
easier to use than debug.

type f-u-n-d, while holding shift, 2 times. Then save game
and exit. Go back into game and type f-u-n-d, again, 2
times, and get out and save. repeat until you have $80,000.
Then bulldoze a forest, and you will get $89,999.

Before you start your city, type fund when the led is on.
This should give you $$10,000. untill you are up to
$$80,000. If you bulldoze a forest and type it again, you
will have $$89,999.

the directory of simcity. Try to find the
directory of your saved city. It may be
under the directory, cd city, or it might just
be in the simcity directory. When you find it,

that last code is WRONG. at any time in the game, hold
shift and type FUND. it will give you 10,000, and cause an
earthquake every 3rd time you use it, so do it before you start your
city.

When you get into your city press f-u-n-d then it will say
do you want to issue bond? say yes. do this 2 times then
go into the budget and go to bond payments then issue
another bond. then after that you should get 1 million
dollars every year.
another code to do that gives you arciologies and all that
stuff. ctrl+F3, left rotate, (bottom righthand corner)
rezize, click the status bar where it tells you the weather.
then click the population button. then click anywhere on the
screen. then go to the disasters thing and click on the line
between the list of disasters and no disasters.
aswell as arciologies it gives yo 50 thousand $$$
This code doesn't work in demo or shareware versions.

While just starting your games press
so the LED is on and then type F, U, N, D and S. This should give you
$10 000 but after pressing this too many times a disaster will happen.
You can only do this till you get to $80 000.
